Local provision of help

Role of Local Enterprise Partnerships (LEPs)

Give the role to Local Enterprise Partnerships to properly coordinate and deliver business support, with appropriate budgets from BIS and other relevant government departments devolved. They are partnerships of local businesses with local authorities and other public sector services and know their local economies well, so could tailor services to meet local needs. LEP overlaps might need to be sorted to prevent duplication and confusion in those areas. LEPs have been given the job to drive growth in their local areas and business support is a huge part of that, so give them the tools to do the job properly.
